Argillà Argentona - Virtual ceramics fair.

Instead, there will be "Argillà Argentona - Virtual Ceramics Fair" online from September 25

The international ceramics fair Argillà Argentona 2020, has been definitively suspended. This was agreed a few days ago by the Board of the Museu del Càntir, considering that neither the current conditions nor those for the autumn guarantee a successful and safe fair.

Therefore, the next edition of the fair in town will be in early July next year, if nothing prevents it. However, the Board also agreed to take advantage of this suspension to give a final boost to the project of the online version of the market fair, which is already being prepared and defined. Its center will be on a website that will be announced soon, with the presence of all the activities of the fair: exhibitors from all sectors and origins, educational activities, exhibitions, ... all them in virtual and accessible format from all over the world. We want the website to reflect all the elements of the fair and the complete ceramic offer of the craftmen who usually exhibit in the streets of Argentona, near Barcelona.

From 15 July, registrations for the online fair will be available, which will be free and open to any ceramist who has taken part in any of the last five editions of the fair. The registration form will be sent in the coming days to those who have participated in the fair from 2015 to 2019. To do so, participants must submit to the organization the required texts and images with the necessary quality to do a virtual fair as needed. Although there will be no direct sale to the public, the visitors will be able to go to the artisan web site to purchase the works they want, as they would at the fair. The launch of the virtual fair will be on September 25, when an exhibition by the ceramist Carles Vives will be opened at the museum, which will be the regular exhibition of the fair. There will be special discounts on the weekend of September 25, 26 and 27, as it will be the first weekend of the fair, which will be permanent and accessible from all over the world. The website will be available in three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English.

Some activities done in digital format due to the pandemic, such as the Poster Contest of the fair or "Hola Ceramica", surprisingly, have been much more successful than the last editions, in which only the face-to-face format was made. This makes the organizers optimistic about the outcome of the fair in online format.
