Transversalitats en ceràmica contemporània

13/01/2019

THE SECOND PART OF TRANSVERSALITATS WILL BE INAUGURATED IN FEBRUARY 2023
From 13th January 2019 till April 2022

If something is common in contemporary ceramics, and in much of today's art, is its transversality, since there are several aesthetic paths that cross constantly in different directions and without apparent order or trend. In fact, contemplating this collective exhibition of recent ceramic art, it is clear that their works have little or nothing in common, this being one of their great and remarkable qualities. It is precisely the great diversity and wealth of techniques and materials, styles and influences that stands out most of today's creative ceramics.

This exhibition wants to be a sample of what will be the future contemporary ceramic space of the museum of Argentona, thus responding to the lack of equipment dedicated to the current production of ceramic art in our country, where the monographic museums are dedicated in a exclusive to historical or traditional ceramics. We want to spread the heritage but, at the same time, promote the present and project ourselves towards the future, presenting to the public the best production in current ceramics.

The origin of this collection must be sought in the exhibitions made since 1994 during the ceramic fair and the works that were donated to the Museu del Càntir de Argentona during the congress of the International Ceramic Academy held in Barcelona in 2016. The geographical diversity is wide, as evidenced by the fact that a total of 83 authors participate, mostly from Catalonia (21), Slovenia (21), rest of Spain (6), other countries in Europe (16), America (9), Australia (7) and Asia (3). It is undoubtedly one of the best authors in the world in the broad panorama of contemporary ceramics.

We propose to the viewers that they enter the rich and suggestive world of the forms and textures of the current ceramics, letting themselves be carried away by the emotions and sensations that these creations transmit to them. That you enjoy them!
